  • Overview

    Lay out, assemble, install, or maintain pipe systems, pipe supports, or related hydraulic or pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, or industrial production or processing systems.


    Full-time positions working in local Pipe fab shop.  Stainless and Carbon pipe fitting experience needed.  Must be able to read schematics, ISO's, etc.  Pipe fitting in production shop preferred.  Must pass a journeyman pipe fitter test.


    Perform a variety activities on all sized of pipe and valves in a large Fabrication Shop. Inspects work-site, plans activities, selects tools, disassembles and assembles parts. May interact with management, engineering and vendors regarding new machinery/equipment selection, specifications, and set-up.

    • Must be Journeyman Pipefitter.
    • Demonstrated technical aptitude and experience working in a heavy industry environment (Pulp and Paper, Oil and Gas, Foundry, etc.) preferred.
    • Ideal candidate will have 5 – 10 years of experience or equivalent education in heavy industry environment.


    • Be able to select type and size of pipe and related materials according to job specifications, knowledge of system operation, and study of building plans / working drawings.
    • Planning sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and cutting pipe.
    • Threading and ending pipe by hand or with pipe bending machine.
    • Securing pipes to structure with clamps, brackets, and hangers; using hand tools.
    • Testing piping systems for leaks by increasing pressure in pipes and observing gauges.
    • Must be proficient in basic rigging and working with mechanical tools.
    • Must be able to read blueprints.
    • Must be willing and able to maintain company-required performance and maintenance records for identified equipment.
    • Adheres to all corporate and department safety guidelines and procedures
    • Documents modifications, repair, set-ups, and safety procedures to ensure reliability, quality control and improve overall operation of equipment.
    • Actively participates and contributes to machine and process improvements.
    • Recommends and may be involved in minor systems modifications under the direction of management and engineering.
    • Ensures the working area, tools and equipment are maintained in a clean, organized and safe manner.
    • Able to lift 50lbs, including motors, pumps, pipes, valves, etc.
    • Able to do considerable amount of bending, stooping, reaching, turning and twisting.
    • Able to climb and work in high places and operate small and large hand and power tools, overhead cranes, hoists, man-lifts, forklifts and related tools and moving equipment.
    • Performs additional duties as requested.
    • Ability to work either independently or as part of a multi-disciplinary team to achieve results and meet project schedules.
    • Demonstrates initiative and is self-directed, anticipating needs and suggesting improvements.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills with a strong teamwork style and a passion for achieving goals..
    • Interface effectively with management personnel to assure continuity of efforts.
    • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and conduct work with high level of professionalism.
